Council-Organized Trips
From local sights and landmarks to those around the world, Girl Scouts has an adventure opportunity for every type of traveler. Girl Scouts of Northern California offers annual trips for youth in the Cadette, Senior and Ambassador levels from around the council to travel together and experience new adventures. Special money earning, scholarship, and financial aid opportunities are available to youth travelers to help pay for their council-organized trips!
General Information
- Trips serve Girl Scouts Cadettes, Seniors, and Ambassadors (grades 6–12) **see trips details for each trip's age range.
- Girl Scouts can use Product Program reward cards to pay for part or all of their trip.
- For international travel, all travelers need to have passports at least 110 days before they depart on their trip.
- Exclusive money-earning opportunities are available for youth signed up for council trips.
- Troop members can sign up together.
- Financial Aid is available to youth who qualify.
- All dates listed are timelines that families should be flexible with, as the trips can be scheduled plus or minus 4 days of the requested dates.
- Trip prices include flights from SFO airport, but travelers must make their own arrangements to get to and from the airport.
Surf City
June 25–27, 2027 | Imperial Beach, San Diego

Travel Progression Level 5 – Extended Trips
$450 per person
Grab your troop and head south for a weekend of sun, surf, sand and sisterhood! Girl Scouts will camp on the beach at YMCA Surf Camp, take surf lessons, enjoy beach games and activities, gather around evening campfires, and make new friends along the way.
The $450 cost includes bus transportation from Santa Rosa or Emeryville, tent camping on the beach, most meals, surf lessons and activities.
Troops must meet required adult-to-girl ratios and are responsible for their own first-aid kit. Health and permission forms will be required.
Optional June 24 sleepover: Troops traveling from farther away may stay overnight at the Girl Scout office in Santa Rosa before the bus departs on June 25.

Skunk Train Pumpkin Express

Travel Progression Level 1
Bring your troop for a fall adventure aboard the Skunk Train! Travel through the beautiful redwoods, visit the pumpkin patch, and pick out a pumpkin to take home.
Pumpkin Express is a Level 1 travel experience—a great introduction to Girl Scout travel for troops ready to start exploring beyond their regular meeting place.
New York City: Youth-Led Adventure
Current Cadettes
July 25–30, 2027 | New York City
$2,650 per youth
New York City—but you help decide what the adventure looks like! GSNorCal youth will travel together to NYC for a youth-led experience planned with their fellow travelers.
Beginning in late January/early February, travelers will meet online to research possibilities and build their itinerary. Visit iconic NYC sights, catch a Broadway show (or two!), taste the foods New York is famous for, and decide together what belongs on your New York adventure.
This is an independent youth travel opportunity; adult family members and troop leaders do not register as travelers. GSNorCal trip leaders will accompany the group.
The $2,650 fee includes round-trip flights, hotel, subway transportation, and all meals. Financial assistance is available through GSNorCal.
Space is limited, and spots will be filled on a first-come registration basis—there is no competitive application process.

Sacramento by Train

2nd–5th Grade Girl Scouts
Travel Progression Experience
All aboard for Sacramento! Meet your trip hosts at the Oakland train station and travel by train to California’s capital for a day of exploration and adventure.
Once in Sacramento, Girl Scouts will have the opportunity to explore Old Sacramento and the surrounding area, while their adults learn more about trip planning and the Girl Scout travel progression—building the skills and confidence to take their troops on future adventures.
This is a great first step for troops that are ready to venture beyond their local area and start traveling together.
